Scott’s Devotion 04/17

but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15‭-‬16 ESV This is where we left off last week in 1st Peter and we’ll pick back up tonight.
As a reminder, what is holiness? Why does God call himself Holy? I’m a mess (so are you), so how can we be holy?
Talk about it:

Scott’s Devotion 04/16

For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins Hebrews 10:26 ESV
Sometimes in our daily devotions, we run up on scripture that is not so fun to read. Today’s verse talks about our sin.
At some point, time runs out! All of our plans to “get right” fade into nothing and we are left with a handful of guilt and shame. This scripture reminds us to constantly desire and strive to see and correct our sin situations…
BTW – the only solution for our sin is relationship with Christ.

For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:14 ESV You mean those things I try to hide? What a scary thought if I am not covered by Jesus! But if you do, what a joy. He sees and knows those good things as well. He sees and knows those “secret” temptations we go through, loves us still when we fail, and applauds when we suceed! That “good thing” no-one saw us do – – yep He saw that to. Go please Him today….let Him judge your “Good”.

Scott’s Devotion 04/03

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22‭-‬23 NIV Jesus is comparing our ability to see light with literal eyes to spiritual sight…. Right? Have you experienced darkness? Literally? Spiritually? How did you respond to the darkness?

Great conversation in the comments yesterday! Thank you for investing… These are today’s verses: But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:20‭-‬21 NIV When we follow Christ, we begin to change our focus. The verse above says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” How can you use what God has given you to make “eternal” investment? comments?
